First Transfer

Dear family and friends,

what a blessig that we are children of a heavenly father!

I am just so greatful for each one of you and that I have the opportunity to have such incedible children of God in my life.

This week was good as always but it also had it’s ups and downs.

I had my very first Zone meeting and it was good, wealso had a special training meeting with our mission president in Morristown with all the new missinaries (it’s 25 of us!). It kind of made me trunky because verybody was talking about home and their family and friends and all the things that they disliked about being on a mission. I love my mission but hearing all of that stuff made me a little sad i guess. I think someone also played a prank on me but I am not too sure yet but if it was a prank… than that’s a terrible prank!! I am not sure I am still confused about it. But it’s okay i already planned a prank back 😉

This week I struggeled focusing on the work. Part of it was because of the special training meeting. I just need to get over myself and forget the past and the future and just focus on the work. So I hope that I can work on that this week because this here isn’t about me, it’s about Lord and his children! But we were still able to teach 29 lessons, receive 10 referrals, find 4 new investigators whoop whoop!

I also went to Carlos Bakery in hoboken and apparently it’s super famous and it has it’s own Tv series on TLC. It also snowed here this week but it already melted!! Honestly, the weather here is so bipolar, I never know how to dress myself.

Did I ever tell you about the New Jersey- attitude? So driving here is awful as i have previously mentioned. People here double park and block the street,. they also hock for every little thing, especially when the light turns green and you haven’t immediatley moved your car. They are so impatient it drives me nuts, good that i am not teh driver here haha. But I have the phone and some days i feel like working in a call center no kidding!

I got two letters last week thank you so much! I feel loved 🙂 But here’s a hint, send letters to my apartment address, if you don;t I will get it a month later.

Everybody here seems to think that I am 12 or 14! I know I am short and all that but do I really look that i young? I guess it’s a good thing right?

I MAET A GERMAN but she wasn’t interested 😦

Okay here is one short crqzy story for you (I have a ton!):

We went to contact a referral that we received from an investigator. We got 2 new investigators through that referral which is great but it was a crazy lesson. We went in to see Michelle and she called her friend Sandy to come aswell. When we came in her son was ling on teh couch and just staring at us. I asked him like 10 questions and he
didn’t even answer one he just kept starring at me for 10 minutes (creeper!). He later stood up and disspeared into a different room so we started the lesson which we planned on talking about the holy Gohst. But sandy started to talk abaout baptism and she wanted her daughter which is 16 to be bapticed but she still was debating in which church she wanted to do that. So I simply asked her would you like our church to baptice your daughter (of course tyhe daughter needs to decide that for her own) but started talking about the restoration and lots of iother things. Then when Michelles son came back he started asking random (buried word) questions so we needed to somehow go back into the lesson. The lesson was all over the place and then when we came to the end Sandy started crying and Sister Torgerson and i were shocked and didn;’t know what to do. It was crazy! The spirit definitely wasn’t present at the lesson at all and she was crying and Michelles son was starring at us and michelle was just sitting there and talked about her trials. Anyways we managed to get out and when we came back into the car we were shocked because we spend 2 hours in there!!! I still can’t believe that!

This is really funny:
Everyday we park we park our car inside our apartment complex. This complex has a gate and I am tghe one that always opens and lock the gate. I acidnetly left the keys in the car and we locked the gate and then when we came home we realized that our keys were missing (we could’t get in) so My companion started to get mad and freak out. So we tried knocking at our neighbours door but no answer… We just stood there infront of the gate and we had no idea how to get in. Well… I just told my companion to climb over the gate and she kinda looked at me as i would be crazy. Guess who ended up climbing the gate? I climed the gate and got the keys out of the car and we got in. YAY! I am so proud of myslef because i managed to do all of that in a dress! 😀

For some reason everyone said the F word last week it was pretty diturbing! Even a car drove by and his music said it 5 times or so in just 10 seconds! Speaking of music…. I love p-days because when we go to the stores i can listen to normal music not just the mormon tabernacle choir! 😀

I always want to write much more that I can but here is one last thing… (it’s one of the miracles of this week):

This sunday I forgot to put on my name tag so we had tp walk back and get it and as we were on our way back to church I told myself that I wanted to invite someone to come to church. I asked my companion if she’d ever done that and she said she never had any success so she stopped (wrong attitude but anyways). I wanted to show that we could make it happen so I watched out on our way back to church who heavenly father would send us. A few peopel were passing by but for soem reason I didn;t feel I should ask them (at leas I said hi thoguh). But as we were almost at the door we passed by a young man but then I turned around and said hey do you want to go to a church today? And he asked me if we were the Jehova Whitnesses (everybody asks us that!!!) and I explained him about our church and he was a little hesitent but then he said ” yeah I’ll come where is it?” So we walked him into the church and it was kind of funny because he was wearing pijama pants from family guy (which is a really dump tv show). I wanted to give him a church tour but my companion kinda spacd put or something (I mean hello…. why isn;t her alarm bell not goign off??? sometimes i feel that I have to motivate my companion).  we found out that he just came out of prisomn recently and that he now wants to have a fresh start and all that. Anyways he stayed for whole of sacrament meeting. Too bad he was only visiting but the seed is now planted!

Anyways, time to go.

I love you all so much and I want you to know that you are in my prayers and that I love getting e-mails from you.

Love always

Sister Larissa Kranewitter

ps: sorry no pictures today (i forgot my camera cord)

Hello everyone,

how is the mission? Very good, I have not a lot of time to write everyone back sorry but I will in letters (if I ever find time). But thank you for the emails I read them all and I am super happy to hear about all the mission calls and engagements (you better send me an invite!).

I am on a quick hurry because I want to havbe a lontger pday today because we were working so hard last week that I need a little breal. We taught 31 lessons, found 6 new investigators through referrals and a few street contacts, 5 baptismal dates and, we got 12 new referrals aswell. We never have time to eat at home unless it’s at a memebers house or we buy something on the street.

Like I said there are really cool miracles everyday and I want to share two of those:

Miracle #1: We got a media referral and we visited her. A women opened the door and came out and we said we were missionaried form the chruch and she was like. Uh not interested, leave my doorstep and make sure you close the gate. We thought someone plaied a joke on us. As we were leaving another women came running out and we were like oh no crazy lady, but she scemed stop stop wait. so we turned around and went back and then we found out that she was tye one that was ourt media referral so we made an appointment, gave her a BOM and invited her to church. Next thing was when she called us in the morning as we were studiyng our sciptures and told us that she wanted tp quit smoking and we were like yeah we can help! She also told us that she was at the hospital so we went and visited her and we are now teaching her regularly and she is getting baptices on March 31! YAY

Miracle #2: An appointment fell through so we were street contacting and I felt I had to talk to this person as we were walkign by but I didn;t know what I should say…. But I went and followed my impression and I went back and i just dais “Don’t you know that God loves you so much and whatever you’re going through you are not alone” and apparently my words were magic because we are now meeting with him aswell and it is going really well. 🙂 I am so happy and so excited for all of my investigators!

I love being a missionary and to work hard. Life is great!

My advice: Pray, read your scriptures, have good friends, and eat good food ( and dance!)

Love always (too busy to miss you)

Sister K/Kranewitter

Ps:
It’s not that hard KranEVitter right? Why do people not get it? Oh well … 😀

Hi Papa & Mama,

alles klar?

Is everything okay? I am worried because I haven’t heared from you in 3 weeks. How’s Essen, is it rainy? PLEASE let me know if you’re still alive because I am kind of worried. (Bitte, bitte, bitte antwortet!!!)

The week has been really good, I am just tired all the time but I think that’s pretty normal for missionaries.

I am working really hard but I can do so much more. We taught 23 lessons this week so we almost hit our goal of 25, but we definitely taught more than 20 so YAY. Our district leader (he’s the person that is in charge of a group of missionaries) called us the other day and said that we were working harder than anyone else in the district. We have already 22 lessons set for this week! I am happy but I hope we can teach more and YAY for hard work!

i think I mentioned this before but I se miracles everyday on my mission. There are three investigators that have a baptism date or almost a baptism date. Kacey still has to pick a date but he will, he is so great and I am so excited for him and I can’t wait for him to be so happy and to feel fullfilment in his life. And he always comes to church 🙂

Angie Baker is married to a less active member form Egypt, and they have a 8 month old boy. She’s 23 and her husband is like 50 something but they do really love each other! It’s was a little bit weird for me at first haha… Anyways she has her date set for April and she finally came to church! She almost cried and I thought this is either good or bad, but she just felt the spirit so that’s fantastic!

Joshua is great too! I love that kid! He almost gave me a hug yesterday in church that was a little awkward but he doesn’t know that Sisters can’t hug him. He’s 13 and he remembers me so much of myself when I was investigating the church. His mom is less active and has depression and yesterday after church she came to me and told me that she had a anxiety attack so we said a prayer together so now I am trying to get the Elders to give her a blessing. But that she told me that  shows me that she trusts us. Anyways, Joshua will be bapticed on the 24th of march and we all are really excited for him but he needs to get his dad’s permission first!

There are so many more miracles thaty happen everyday that I cannot tell them all but the ward is truly amazing and really tries to help the missionaries. I hope that as I continue to get to know the members that they can trust me and give us referrals. \

We also met 2 men on the street which we both will start teaching soon! They are so amazing!

And now the funny stories of the week:

FS #1 We went to 4 dinner appointments and guess what we had? Spagetthi and lasagne!! 4 times in a row!!!!!!

FS #2 We were street contacting and started talking to this (crazy) man (I forgot his name) and he said he didn;t believe in the bibile but then said he was a prophet and knew what was goign to happen in the future. Then he told me that I was cute for 5 times and that he liked me and tried hitting on me. He was a crazy man!

FS #3 I called lot’s of formers (investigators that were taught in the past) and left also lot’s of messages. There is this one man that’s called Vimal who called me back this morning and said he wanted to be bapticed and I was like oh, that is great, bit haven you been coming to church and he sais yes but apparently he goes to a different church that is not lds. So he’s kind of crazy too but we have an appointment this week and I’ll tell you how it went.

Random fact: Swedish fish are made in New Jersey and Alex Boye is married to one my Mission Presidents daughter.

I hoffe alles ist gut und bitte schreibt mir ne email!

Love always,

Sister Kranewitter

Week 4

Dear family and friends,

sorry that I am writing you so late but the library was closed on monday and then on tuesday the computers were down and we had 7 appointments yesterday and no time to write. So HELLO!

Wow coming to New Jersey took only 4 hours on the plane 🙂

My mission president, President Jeppson and  his wife are amazing! He even sung a song that he made up, and I like how he trusts the missionaries. He really does trust us and the first thing that everybody told me was that this is a super obedient mission and that it is the best! Of course every mission is teh best but this is really the best mission! It is one of the most important missions because lot’s of international people live here and if they go home then they bring the gospel home to their friends and family so it’s pretty cool to think about that this way.

The mission conference was also really cool and I got assigned to my companion. when i went into the room with all teh trainers and i saw her face I knew that she would be my trainer immediately without any doubt and i didn’t even talk to her. That happened a coupel of times in other situations so I thought that was pretty sweet. Sister Torgerson is from Salina in Utah (no idea where that is) and she is way fun! She has to do all teh diving because i don;t have a licese, but I get to manage the phone (it’s touch screen and I hate it).

So I am in Jersey City now and it’s an interesting place… I can see New York/ Manhatten everyday across the waters, even the statue of liberty (i was really disappointed because i thought it was big, amazing, gianormous stature, but it’s really small, one day right before I leave i’ll be allowed to go there YAY). The people are very different and i don’t like their accent hahaha but that’s okay i’ll make myself love it over the next weeks. Oh ya befre i forget, they have street cleanings here twice a week on every street so parking is super (burried word) sometimes.

It is very cold, actually IT IS ABSOLUTELY FREEZING!

Most people here can’t procounce my name or they don;’t even try so from now on my name changed to Sister K haha. That’s okay it’s short and nice 😉

The members here are WOW! They are so willing to work and help the missionaries so it’s been great :)Especially teh converts. I love their testimonies and they fire and enthusiams about teh Gospel (converts are just the best). I want to write more but I will be runnig out of time.

We have I think 7 investigators but 3 of them are really progressing. 2 of them have a baptismal date (I got to invite one of them) and Kacey just told us yesterday that he wants to get bapticed (YAY). So I think we will have 3 baptisms between march and april, if not even more 🙂 We are reallty doing everythign we can, on sunday we had 18 appointments set for this week and yesterday we already had 9 appointments for next week, and we also have 2 appointments in two weeks. My companion said that we are really really doing a good job (yay). The standard for the mission is 20 lessons per week and last week we had 21, so this week we are trying to have 25 lessons. I hope it works out! We also are working on finding new people!

This transfer we only have 5 weeks and I think this crazy and lot’s of people need to train, so I might get a new companion in a few weeks but i think i’ll stay in Jersey City.

Well.. I love being a missionary, every minute of it and i know with all my heart that this is what the lord wants me to do. I see at least one miracle every day! And this shows me that the lord loves his servants so much. I am so greatful for everything and thanks everyone for the emails.

You can send me letters to : 496 Pavonia Ave 1A, 07306 NJ

I love you so much and miss you, I even have dreams with you. I didn;t think that I would miss everyone so much but it’s okay, my companion is pretty amazing!

I love and pray for you!

Love always,

Sister K/ Kranewitter

Week 3

Hi papa, hi mama,

I never know in which language to write because I have family in 3 different continents… but I think english is pretty universal.

There happens so much that I forget everything of i don’t write it down but here are some highlights of the week.

On saturday me and my companion went to teach someone less-active in the trc and that was an experience that I won’t forget. usually people take on a role and just play it but this time the person that we got was really less-active and not acting! She felt that she got baptized very fast and had not a lot of knowledge and din’t really know what she was getting herself into. she had some doubts about the book of mormon and the prophet because she never felt anything when she read in it. and then she did homework on sunday and felt bad about it, anyways…. her family is not lds and not supportive so we shared our experiences and explained her what she needs to to in ord3er to find out ifit’s true. I don;t know whey but right in the beginnign i asked her of she would give the prayer and she said no and i don’t know why but after we talked to her for 40 minutes I asked her again if she would like to pray with us about the things that we have been teachign her and to really ask God with all her heart if it was true and she said she would do it!! So we knelt and we closed our eyes and there was a 30 second break and i was wondering if she was praying in her mind but she was crying! She then started to say the prayer while she was crying and it was so sincere from her heart that me and my companion felt the spirit so strong and we also0 started crying. When she was done I gave her a hug and my email address. That was so great!

Anyways, yesterday i had in fiels orientation and that was pretty slow and boring, but important!

OMG! There is this elder that I met in the gym (my nose was bledding when he was talking to me) and he’s kinda weird… as i am sitting here he is writing ,e little notes on papers and super flirty! NOt a good thing to be as missionary… so somehow he figured out my first name and wrote me an email… strange! that kid is not even in my branch! But no worries I didn’t flirt back haha.

Today we went to temple square with all the internationals and that was so sweet because we got to go to the church office building, and the museum and it was just so great. And I am gl;ad that I can say that I know that Joseph Smith is/was indeed the prophet! I just know it with all my heart.

I have to finish laundry! So I’ll talk to you next monday? I don’t know when my pday will be. Oh and thank you so much for all the letters (I can feel the love :D) I I wrote back, I just need to send them, but I send some already/ they got delivered by a friend to some of you.

Anyways I love you so much and I miss you1 Sometimes i want to just chat orsee you but then I realize that I can’t.

Ich hab euch voll lieb!

Love always & forever

Sister Kranewitter

ps: please write me letters on my mish I promise i’ll write back

Week 2

Hi Papa, hey Mama

Das MTC is wunderbar und mir geht es es gut, macht euch keine Sorgen. Ich hoffe euch haben die Bilder gefallen!!! Ich hab euch sooo lieb 🙂

Wow! This has been one of the shortest weeks of my life!! Since I have some time i am goign to tell you a little about my district, (it’s like a a group that I’m in) So my companion is sister Oa from american samoa and she’s already my family. She is GREAT, she’s going to Oakland Visitor Center! Then there is Elder Braluschke from Germany, that I know from before my mission, Elder Westra from Holland (Netherlands) , and Elder Barsinas, he’s from Tahiti. I really like all of them but they are a little immature sometimes (talking about the Elders).

Elder Barsinas has some learning difficulties I think. He’s a little strange but I still love him. The other day I helped him write his talk and learn the first vision (he only speaks french and his english is super bad). Anyways, I just feel bad for him sometimes, so I decided to do something for him. I was helping him for 1 and a half hours and I noticed he has trouble concentrating. He… well he farts in class all the time and he did in the hall way the other day with all the sisters, and he always says ik hou van jou! (that means I love you in dutch it just sounds soooooo funny!!!)

So our room is alright, we have to ourselves at the moment but I think that there will be other sisters moving in next week. I just have trouble getting on my bed because there are no stairs to climb up. It probably look really retarded.

The food is okay, there is some healthy stuff but at the moment i.m sick 😦 So I can’t really eat and I feel dizzy all the time. Yesterday I slept for 4 hours!!! Me and sister Oa went to the BYU Clinic to get some medicine so I should be better soon.

The branch president, President  Marion is really great but i am kind of afraid of him because he always yells at us. If I didn’t feel that he had the spirit I would totally yell back… just kidding, I would never do that but that is why i listen to him. The other day during zone meeting a spider crawled on the wall behind my head and when my companion told me I freaked out and and everyone was laughing but it was kinda embarrassing and Pres, Marion of course also yelled at me for that. Some people just don’t understand what phobias are.

Oh ya by the way we have bed bugs! I thought I could randomly through this out.

Oh here is a really funny story for you guys! Sister Oa went to the shower and I asked her if I could use her lotion. So after I got dressed i took the lotion and put some of it on my legs and I was confused why the lotion was so slimy and weird… when sister Oa came back she asked me why her shampoo bottle was on the table and I said that she might have forgotten it there and she was liek nooo… and then she asked me again why her shampoo is on the table and then i realized that I used shampoo instead of lotion (the lotion was right next to the shampoo). And we just started laughing sooo hard!! I had no time to take anotehr shower so i just put on tights and continuedmy day. Gross!!! Right?! haha

I also started to use the gym here and it’s really fun! I did rows the other day and my abs were hurting so bad the next couple of days that it hurt when I would laugh.

So the MTC booked my ticket today and i’ll be leaving salt lake on the 11th at 9 am. So I am quite excited! Also when i went to the temple this morning I met Kyle durfee!!! he has some letters for you at CT so Ask him if you wrote me a dear elder because I replyed!

The other day when we were teaching I totally made this story up. So I was teachign out teacher Brother SMith (he is so great, we’re gonna teach him about the law of chastity tomorrow AWKWARD) and we invited the elders to be our members.Elder Barsinas forgot his his nametag so elder Barlusche borrowed him his. So I said that they’re twins from another mother that are participating in a twin study. Somethign like that but it was super funny.

I love the mtc, you learn so much, espechually about yourself and your weaknesses. But it’s great I already learned so much and about my purpose of being a missionary/ representatvie of Jesus Christ. SOmetomes you get a little discouraged and you’re afraid to go to the field. Me andf my companion felt like that the other day and when we talked about it we started crying, but it was good to let it all out and I think it also strengthened our relationship and helped us grow closer. Today is just a happy day liek usually any other day.

Hey hope you all are doing well! I gotta go now so ’til next week 🙂

Love always & forever!

Sister Kranewitter

ps: if you don’t receive an email from me but you gave your email then email me first so I can save your email address (larissa.kranewitter@myldsmail.net)

Week 1

Hey Dad, Mom, and everyone else,
I have p days on friday. I went to the temple today and it was great. i think i saw brent. anyways… my companion is from samoa and she’s 21 had some siblings but her family is inactive. that’s mainly why she’d on a mission! I really love her already and look up tp hert and the example that she’s to me. sorry i”m in a hurry and I still need to write my branch prsident. he’s truly the best.
his mission pres. was thomas s monson!!! I know right! Sorry i can’t send pictures i had no idea that they don’t take sd cards. I met Karen Castro, sister king, stephanie peatrosses old roommate from china and Elder Barlusche from Germnay. he’s actua;;y in my distric. It5’s realy crazy that i met him here…. it kind of blew my mind haha… sorry i am typing super super super fast because I am runnig out of time. I am super tired all the time but it is so great here. I already learned so much. My companion is serving in Oklahoma Visitor center and she said I have a samoan style haha… she’s so cool (SIster Oa). The food is better than when i make it hahaha… you definitely will be fat here unless you work out but believe or not I had no time to work out because I am so busy all the time. Yesterday they chose our distict ;eaders and senior and junior comanions. I am Sister Oa’s Senior companion now. The first day I had no companio0n until 8 because they messed somethign up… asnyays sorry for the typos and this whole mess… I promise that next week will be better and more organized. What I learned so far ias that this is true;y all about him and his children and not me!!

Hey can someone send me hair ties? And can someone make sure that my byu application is in? Can someone also make saure that my endorsement is in?? And tell sister anderson that she should update my blog and fb with this email???

I am so sorry I got to go now but I am fine just tired and busy.

Love always and forever,

Sister Kranewitter

2 Days before my Mission!

I felt like satan was playing roller coaster with me today, I had quite fun day but felt super crappy! I was looking for my keys every where and I could not find them! Ah! It was quite disappointing when I payed 61 dollars to drill my lock and replace it :(. My dad actually doesn’t know about it yet but he probably will scream if he sees it next month in his credit card account (at least I wil be in Jersey so he can’t call me). Then I got also hurt by some friends (emotionally) and that quite sucked… I feel that right before my mission everything goes wrong! I remember right the day after I got my call I thought my life was a big mess because of events that happened. And now right before leaving on my mission I am getting super stressed out about things!

BUT the good thing about today was the I realized again that I am blessed with such wonderful friends. They really tried to help me find my keys and get all of my stuff into the storage. If I wouldn’t have them I’d probably go insane right now (I had so many break downs today, not only because of Le Mis). But I just tried to not get angry or upset about my situation and voila … I felt heavenly fathers love for me and all my worried disappeared. Oh and by the way it was totally worth it to see Le Mis before going on my mission (if you haven’t seen it yet then you totally should. *hint* *hint*). I also had my friends over later today and it is always a blast to talk to them. Well they are quite interesting because they love to talk about romance and sexy romance 😉 (If they’re reading this right now they probably start laughing super hard because they totally know what was going on today). I also had my last ballroom dance and that was quite fantastic!

Honestly I was calm but I am starting to get a little nervous now, but I can’t until I get set apart! I am not sure who is going to be there but it’s going to be great. My email about it will be probably postet next week.

“Sexy time” You know you want it!

3 Days before my Mission!

I just gave my fare well talk so that means I am leaving on a mission right? I cannot believe that it is coming up so fast!! I am so so so … not nervous? it’s a weird feeling… it’s excitement and… weirdness. Yeah I know that’s not really a better description BUT I was so happy to see so many friends and people that I loved at my talk. I really have an amazing ward and friends (YAY). Well the talk went fine, I wasn’t even that nervous just super tired.

Later after church I had people come over to eat cinnamon rolls and that was quite fun! I still need to write down everybody’s email address.

Ah! I am just so annoyed right now because I lost my keys somewhere at cinnamon tree and I can’t find it and I really really need them because I need to go to my storage tomorrow and I need to turn in my keys on tuesday morning. I am screwed if I don’t find them! Ah! Satan is so sneaky but he won’t destroy my day. At least I am not letting him! Ahhhh it’s so annoying though!
